Hat-trick for Michael Greeve, Drent also wins Wolvega Prix Horse Clinic
The penultimate class on the final day of Indoor Friesland 2025 for the three-star riders has been completed: the Paardenkliniek Wolvega Prix over a height of 1.45m with Winning Round. Forty combinations started, and twelve were allowed to return. Once again, a Dutch top three finished, with Michael Greeve once again the winner. It is also the second victory for the eight-year-old gelding Rubens (by Luganer). They crossed the finish line in 40.29 seconds.
Second place went to Tom Schellekens and the eleven-year-old mare Optima van de Bisschop (by Denzel van 't Meulenhof). This duo clocked 41.73 seconds. Gerco Schröder finished third. Gerco rode the nine-year-old mare Chactula PS (by Exelero Z) across the finish line in 42.36 seconds.
In a flow
Michael: "I'm having a good weekend, but I've actually been in a groove for the past few months. I have a group of very nice horses, and things are going well. Everything is falling into place. Rubens belongs to an American owner who also bred him himself. Until last year, he only had experience at the 1.30m level. Since he's been at my stables, things have progressed quickly. He jumps this 1.45m class with ease, and he's also very competitive, which offers good prospects for the future."
Good guidance is important
Don van de Winkel from Paardenkliniek Wolvega is also present at the meeting. Don: "When managing sport horses, it's important to understand the sport and follow it closely. We regularly visit top-level sport horses at the stables and check them, often once a week. This way, you get to know the horses and recognize injuries at an early stage."
Michael: "That's right. Our horses are athletes, and good management is definitely part of that."
Low-threshold clinic and competition
Sponsor Don van de Winkel: “Indoor Friesland is a fantastic event, and my colleague Waling Haytema is on the board. We're a friendly and accessible clinic and want to help all our clients as best as possible. This approach is a perfect fit for Indoor Friesland.”
