Kielstra Crane Rental Prix for Hans Peter Minderhoud
Indoor Friesland 2025 has also begun for seniors. The Kielstra Kraanverhuur Prix was their first opportunity to compete, a Prix St. Georges class in the CDI1*. The riders performed strongly, with the entire top six achieving scores above 70 percent. While the international competition in the youth classes was still too strong today, the Dutch team dominated in this class. The entire top three consisted of Dutch combinations. It remained exciting until the very end, and the victory went to loyal Indoor Friesland participant Hans Peter Minderhoud. In the saddle of the eight-year-old gelding My Toto (by Glock's Toto Jr.), he scored 71.35%.
Second place went to Daniëlle Heikoop and the eight-year-old gelding Mac Toto USB (by Glock's Toto Jr.). The duo scored 71.26%. Third place went to Indoor Friesland ambassador Dinja van Liere and the eight-year-old stallion McLaren (by Morricone). They scored 71.00%.
Already a four-time participant
Hans Peter has been participating in Indoor Friesland every year since its comeback, and he's happy to be back this year. Hans Peter: "This year I'm only competing with a Small Tour horse, but I will indeed be back. My Toto had never competed in an indoor competition before, despite having achieved many great things. Indoor Friesland is a good competition for younger horses to gain experience in a large hall. The hall's beautiful decor makes it quite exciting, and there are plenty of World Cup competitions that are less exciting. It's also relatively close, and there are plenty of opportunities for training and exploring the course. I also think it's a plus that both the stables and the hotel are under one roof."
Aptitude for the Heavy Tour
Regarding my test, we were a bit nervous, but then again, My Toto has never competed indoors before, even though he's already quite a well-known horse. The trot went very well, but the walk was a bit more difficult. I had to manage the canter a bit more after that, but there were no mistakes, and the final result was good enough for the win. In this strong field, I was very pleased with this result. After this competition, I might compete again, but after that, we'll continue training for the Grand Tour. This looks promising. He definitely has talent for piaffe, passage, and pirouettes. Combined with his good appearance, I see a bright future for him.
New horses welcome
So you're not rid of me yet. As long as I still have suitable horses, I'll keep going. Initially, after our contract with Glock expired, we took a break. Something like that has a big impact on you. But now we're pretty settled in and open to new adventures, horses included. Edward and I now have six horses at the Bot family's stable in Voorthuizen, and we're having a blast.
