Last best: SLTN Grand Prix Indoor Friesland 2025 to Marieke van der Putten with Kuvasz Rs2 NOPT
The Indoor Friesland dressage weekend is over. The saying "lest best" was also true here. After many highlights, we worked towards the pinnacle of the Grand Tour, the Freestyle. It was exciting until the very last combination bowed out. The SLTN Grand Prix Freestyle 2025 was won by Marieke van der Putten and her ten-year-old stallion Kuvasz Rs2 NOPT (by Glamourdale) with a score of 77.02%.
No fewer than six combinations scored above 75%, with Germany's Laura Strobel taking second place with her thirteen-year-old mare Sister Act Mt Old (by Sandro Hit). This duo achieved 76.73%. Third place also remained in the Netherlands and went to the winner of the Grand Prix EN Indoor Friesland, ambassador Dinja van Liere. Aboard her black beauty Imposantos (by Wynton), she received 76.38% from the five-member jury. Imposantos is a ten-year-old stallion.
Enjoyed
Marieke: "I enjoyed it. It's our first truly enjoyable test together. Kuvasz was completely at ease. He was a bit nervous on Friday, so yesterday, when we had a rest day, we rode two fifteen-minute rides just to relax. The Indoor Friesland environment is beautiful, but also exciting for inexperienced horses. In the coming weeks, we'll be racking up the miles and gaining experience. We'll seek out the right competitions and make a plan together with the national coach. Kuvasz is a very good horse and can improve even further, but we have to take the time to do so."
National coach also present
National coach Patrick van der Meer was also present today: "As national coach, I naturally want to see how 'my' riders are doing and (laughing) of course to watch this wonderful competition. I'm a happy man; I enjoyed this final. Regarding Marieke, she's in the fortunate position of having three Grand Prix horses and also some good younger horses behind them. With the World Championships and the Olympic Games coming up, it's important that we plan well."
Thank you very much to everyone for their cooperation or presence at the dressage weekend of Indoor Friesland 2025 in whatever way. We hope to see you at Indoor Friesland 2026 or next week at the jumping weekend. There are still tickets, but full = full!
