MHB AV Prix to Marit Hoekstra with family horse Qstar
The second class for the one-star riders is also complete. The MHB AV Prix, against the clock over a height of 1.20m, was on the program for them. Fifty combinations competed. Last year, she also won two classes with the Hoekstra family horse. The victory went to Marit Hoekstra and the eighteen-year-old gelding Qstar (by Quasimodo Z), who were significantly faster than the competition: 52.99 seconds.
Once again, the entire top three remained in the Netherlands, even the top eight. Yesterday's number one finished second today. Joep Schaap and the sixteen-year-old gelding Abbervail Diamant (by Diamant de Semilly) crossed the finish line in 54.30 seconds. Third place went to yesterday's number two, Tim ten Berg, aboard the fifteen-year-old gelding Fadograaf (by Vigaro) in 55.15 seconds.
On the street and in the forest
Marit: "It went really well. We started off smoothly and things went well. I got all the forward distances, and that ended in victory. My brother is Hessel Hoekstra, and the horses that are a bit older and can't handle the pace as much come to me. I use them carefully and put them through some nice competitions. I also ride them on the road and through the woods. Regarding Qstar, he still loves his work. When he hears the truck, he starts whinnying. You only get a horse like that once in a lifetime."
Special horse
Qstar has been with us for almost eleven years, and I've been riding him for about four. He came to us through Leon Thijssen, and he's won a lot with Hessel in the junior division. He's still very fresh, very fast, and very sharp, and he'll never stop. He's a special horse for us. He's in the pasture every day and can grow old with us.
Pulling out all the stops during Frisian Evening
Jelle Haaima from sponsor MHB AV, who provides the lighting and boarding for Indoor Friesland: “Indoor Friesland is a combination of equipment and people, especially people. Good preparation and agreements are crucial. In a competition like this, you don't see everything we can do yet. That's not possible, because it's all about the sport. But tonight at the Friese Avond, we also have a light show where we'll pull out all the stops with spectacular effects.”
