After a wonderful dressage week, Indoor Friesland is preparing for Horses & Friends and the show jumpers
Indoor Friesland 2025 kicked off last week with a fantastic and varied first week at the WTC Expo in Leeuwarden! With top-level sport in the international dressage classes, a hugely successful debut of the Breeders' Café and the SLTN Night of the Stallions, and a sense of camaraderie and team spirit in the finals of the Epplejeck Four-Team Competition and the Wolvega Horse Clinic Team Challenge, the dressage week was a feast for many horse lovers.
From the most renowned horse breeders to the elite of Dutch dressage, and from regional riders to enthusiasts of unique horses and ponies, everyone found their fill in the Frisian capital. And everyone was deeply impressed by the quality of the competition. Indoor Friesland rivals the best indoor competitions in the world in terms of appearance, quality, and facilities, yet it's also a competition for everyone, where Frisian conviviality reigns supreme and everyone is welcome. Show jumping enthusiasts have been convinced of this for several years, but now dressage enthusiasts are slowly but surely realizing it as well.
Dutch champion Dinja van Liere won the Univé Grand Prix on Friday. The ambassador for Indoor Friesland had nothing but praise for the competition. "It's such a beautiful arena, and the horses learn so much here. The atmosphere is also great. It's grand, but feels cozy. It's well-designed, and everything looks fantastic. I think Indoor Friesland is more beautiful and better than many other competitions."
Immediately after her victory, Van Liere, along with Marten Luiten and Monique Peutz, was back judging the final of the Epplejeck Viertallen Cup on Friday evening. The trio placed the Brabant-based quartet Kánonnes in the lead. On Saturday, the team of main sponsor SLTN won the Paardenkliniek Wolvega Team Challenge, and on Sunday, top Dutch rider Marieke van der Putten was honored as the winner of the SLTN Freestyle.
Indoor Friesland continues this week with the big family show Horses & Friends, presented by Britt Dekker and Matheu, in collaboration with Univé. Wednesday will be one big party during the Horses2fly show jumping day for the regional show jumping elite. On Thursday, the international show jumping event begins, featuring many top Dutch and international riders. Friday evening features the popular Frisian evening, where enthusiasts of the Frisian horse and Dutch harness horse will have plenty to enjoy. Indoor Friesland 2025 concludes Saturday evening with the spectacular SLTN Grand Prix of Indoor Friesland.
