Night of the Stallions: the power of breeding and sport tonight at Indoor Friesland
Saturday, October 18 | 20:00 PM | Main track WTC Expo Leeuwarden
After an inspiring Breeders' Café this afternoon at the Indoor Friesland Mediaplein – powered by Horse & Country – the first edition of the Night of the Stallions kicks off tonight. An evening full of showmanship, performance, and passion, with stallions from various studbooks showcasing their qualities. From dressage to show jumping, from harness horses to Frisian powerhouses – the audience will get a unique glimpse into the diversity of Dutch breeding.
The show opens with a spectacular light show, after which an impressive array of stallions treats the audience to sport, charisma and heredity.
Some highlights from the line-up
Extreme US – Van Uytert Stud
The six-year-old KWPN stallion Extreme US has rapidly developed into one of the most striking young dressage talents in the Netherlands. He won both the Pavo Cup for four-year-olds in 2023 and the Pavo Cup for six-year-olds in 2025, and is a paragon of talent, attitude, and future prospects.
Edmundo & Odin – Marcel van Bruggen
A remarkable father-son duo. Edmundo, the 16-year-old Gelderland stallion who received the "keur" predicate earlier this year, continues to demonstrate his strength, character, and versatility. His son Odin, only six years old, is convincingly following in his father's footsteps, including two victories in the stallion competition. Together, they represent the strength of generations in Gelderland breeding.
Dutch Dream – Stal Brinkman
The seven-year-old KWPN stallion Dutch Dream already impressed as a young talent: in 2022, he won the VSN Trophy and finished third in the Pavo Cup for four-year-olds. He has recently been ridden by Emmelie Scholtens, with the goal of competing in the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. His performance at the Night of the Stallions promises a preview of his promising future.
Jurre 495 and the Frisian greats of Stal Chardon
Frisian stallions traditionally provide goosebumps in the arena, and this Night of the Stallions will be no different. Led by Jelmer Chardon, three impressive stallions will appear in the ring: Hielke 530, Siebren 547, and especially Jurre 495, a living legend in Frisian breeding. With his impressive build, expressive movement, and unparalleled presence, Jurre became an icon within the KFPS, and his offspring continue to leave their mark on the breed. His performance in Leeuwarden is a tribute to the power and elegance of the Frisian horse.
And that's just a small part of the evening. Expect spectacular presentations from VDL Stud, Stal de Mersken, Stal Henk Hammers, Frisian stallions Wolter 513 and Waander 512, Barock Pinto Studbook, NRPS, NWPCS, and much more.
An evening where sport and breeding meet, where quality and character come together, and where the public literally sees the future of horse breeding in action.
