Friesland has traditionally been the province that has a warm heart for equestrian sports. World-class equestrian sports are therefore indispensable in Leeuwarden. The first edition of Indoor Friesland in 1967 was a competition to never forget. With the combination of regional and international show jumping, shows, Frisian traditions, harness horses and emotion, the name of Indoor Friesland was established.
In the years that followed, many top riders and upcoming talents participated. Each edition saw an enthusiastic audience, and sometimes even a royal audience, living legends or surprising combinations win the Grand Prix.
